My wife's daily routine

cancer free - how my wife cured stage III lung cancer- daily routine

sleep - after studying other survivors and getting advice from Japanese cancer mentors, she decided that a regular sleep pattern was essential. We sleep before 9:30 pm every day of the week and she gets up before 6:00. Supposedly, our immune system's "golden time" is from 10pm to about 2 am. So getting to bed before 10pm allows our immune system to do it's best.

waking up - She often wakes up much earlier than 6am naturally and will decide to rest and do image training before getting up. So she put's on her headphones and listens to a Japanese version of Carl Simonton's image training. We also made a customized version of the Simonton audio by recording her own message over relaxing music. The Simonton program is very useful and we recommend it to anyone with cancer.

getting up- when she actually gets up, she steps outside for some deep breathing and thinks about everything she is thankful for. Next, drinks some mineral water and goes out for a 40 minute "Kikou" walking session.

Kiko or Kikou walking is a walking, breathing and energy circulation exercise, originally from China but often practiced in Japan. It's similar to meditating while walking. A 40 minute walk is followed by a 20 minute rest, lying down. If anyone wants details, leave a comment and I will try to find some links. I've also attended some kiko walking training in Kyoto and find it amazing.
There are many types of Kiko, but this one is specific for treating cancer. It's called Kakulin Shin Kiko. I'm not sure on the spelling, as I'm trying to spell out Japanese in English.

pre breakfast- Takes some Japanese traditional medicine, called Kampo. One of them is a blend of powdered roots and herbs, the other is powdered Ginseng. Then takes her Maitake MD fraction, produced in the Kobe Pharmaceutical University under Professor Hiroaki Nanba.

breakfast- I make a breakfast of organic brown rice with lots of other grains (Ok, all the food we buy is organic so I won't keep writing it before every ingredient), miso soup (onion, mushrooms-maitake,shiitake, enoki, tofu cut into 1cm cubes, green onion, wakame (a type of sea weed), kombu stock (a dried seaweed powder)), and salad (thin cut cabbage, daikon, mizuna, cucumber, tomato, ground sesame) with flax oil and a home made vinegar-based dressing.

post breakfast- takes her supplements e-clinic & Thomson laboratories - cNCR multivitamin, e-clinic Proboimin (a probiotic supplement), e-clinic vitamin C.
Then I give her a calf and foot lymph massage. Pushing lymph up from the lower legs and feet to get it circulating well. A common problem with the circulation of lymph and lymph based immune cells, is the settling to the lower legs. Multiple lymph massages every day plus body movement help to keep immune cells and lymph circulating well.

Then is time for her carrot juice. In a slow, screw-type juicer I juice about 1.3 kilograms of organic Japanese carrots. We get a 10 kilo box delivered automatically delivered every week.
She really likes the Max Gerson ideas on diet. Tons of fresh juices and vegetables.
But many cancer patients find the Gerson diet is tough to follow and actually a source of stress when trying to follow religiously. She likes the Japanese version adapted by Dr. Hoshino- so called Hoshino-Gerson - which allows for some soybased foods as well as seaweed and possibly a little fish. A realistic diet full of foods with living enzymes and vitamins. Let me know if you want details of this diet.

I go to work- she does her cancer treatment things all day long while I'm at work. I took one year off work when she first got lung cancer, so I could support her and do all the energy intensive tasks involved with alternative treatments.

Here are a few of her daytime treatments:

  • -hot foot baths- We want to keep her temperature around 36-36.5 degrees. Cancer grows very well in a cold body and immune cells function poorly. At 36.5 cancer has a hard time living and immune cells are much more active. A simple and important treatment. Stay warm!!!
She wears three layers of socks and leg warmers year round. Staying warm is a basic rule followed by many Japanese survivors.

  • - cognac ship- "Ship" is a type of hot pad applied to specific areas of the body including liver and kidney. Cognac (spoken konyyak) is a type of firm gelly made from a kind of potato. It is a food and comes in a rectangular brick shape. It has the ability to absorb toxins and also hold heat well. So we boil it in water for ten minutes and then wrap it in hand towels and apply it to her skin, over various organs.

This is one type of Oh-Te-Ah-Te (again, the spelling is just a guess). Oh-te-ah-te is a traditional Japanese way of healing. There are many techniques and types of oh-te-ah-te. You can learn from books, videos, or from masters who teach you "hands on". That's how we learned.
There is deep wisdom in these healing techniques and holistic in its approach.
It is worth investigating for people interested in naturally healing their bodies. Family can be actively involved in this, which makes it more powerful.

Many mentors say "cancer is a family disease". A family member getting cancer is a reflection of the family as a whole. And as a family can come together and fix it's deep problems, often the cause of the cancer will also be fixed. So healing can be long lasting.

  • Biwa onkyu- "Onkyu" is heating the body with a source like electric "heat guns" or hot ceramic handles (charcoal burns slowly inside to keep the ceramic hot). "Biwa" is a type of tree Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) - Loquat. The large green leaves and the fruits contain vitamin B17 or amygdalin and other great ingredients. The leaf is applied "shiny side" to the skin and the heat source is applied on top. It heats your body and allows the biwa goodness to soak into your skin. If the tree doesn't grow in your country, you can get biwa extract and use it with heat guns. This method is much more convenient than picking leaves from your neighbourhood trees (which is what we do). We use the electric heat guns because we prefer no smoke in the house. The traditional "onkyu" ceramic heaters give off some smoke. Mail me or post a comment if you are interested in onkyu.

  • praying and appreciating - She prays and thanks a lot. Appreciating life and everything we have been given is a big improvement over being angry and stubborn and impatient- which is how we were before.

  • stretching, hot baths, full body lymph masssage- she does these things daily. Find out from your doctor or from massage experts where your core lymph nodes and bundles are.

  • Nail poking- Japanese immune specialists have found important immune stimulating points at our finger tips. If you poke them, a positive immune response can occur. She noticed an improvement in her blood tests after practicing nail poking. You can use a mechanical pencil or just squeeze with your thumb and index finger. The points are just to the right and left corners of your cuticle, near the back of your nails. So you poke the flesh just next to the back corners of your nail. I guess a photo or drawing might help. Post a response if you want me to add an illustration.

  • Cancer survivors meetings- The groups she likes the most are the e-clinic group meetings and the Kawatake group meetings. Both groups are extremely positive and not a place where people come to do "poor me, poor you". They exchange information on what kinds of treatments they are doing and how they are planning on surviving. Survivors help with thier own stories of healing and introduce members to other networks of healing mentors and masters. Most of them do food treatment, mental healing, Japanese traditional healing "oh-te-ah-te", biwa onkyu, kiko and other techniques. Basically, taking full responsibility for their own healing. There are also occasionally English speaking members.

  • Reading impressive books and books by cancer healing mentors- She got a lot of ideas and inspiration from reading survivors' books and books by alternative healers. But she avoided technical books about cancer death statistics, and the typical "beautiful" death stories and TV shows of cancer patients who die. It is important to keep our unconsious mind believing in our true healing ability. We should not subscribe to the cancer=death mentality of most doctors. We have seen first hand so many people who have been tossed away by their doctors, who then go home and fully heal their so-called "terminal" cancer. They had to figure out their true reasons for getting cancer and fix them themselves. No one else can!

  • Taking a rest!!!!! Common traits of cancer patients are -hard working, very responsible and patient. These type of people are usually thinking "I have to do___, and ____ and...." They take responsibility for everything and take care of every one else, except themselves. It is hard to break the lifestyle habits and stop to care for themselves. I wish my wife would take more rests throughout the day and she is starting to do it more, now that one of her "monk" trainers has told her that "taking rests is almost the most important thing she can do to survive".

Ok the list goes on and on, but I have to get to work.

Maitake MD fraction

cancer free - how my wife cured stage III lung cancer- Maitake MD fraction

I have been interested in beta glucans from mushrooms for many years. Mushroom extracts have been historically one of the best anti-cancer medicines. There are many famous anti-cancer mushrooms and extracts such as Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), Coriolus versicolor, Agaricus Blazei Murril, Shiitake and others. They all have types of Beta-glucans, which have been found to activate immune cell responses.

But recently, since my wife got cancer, I have found out about the amazing effects of Maitake mushroom extracts. Specifically Maitake MD fraction. MD fraction is not a commercial name of a product. It is the name of the group of beta glucans discovered by Professor Hiroaki Nanba, at the Kobe Pharmaceutical University, in Japan. His laboratories' research has shown Maitake MD fraction to be highly effective in activating the immune system and surviving cancer. They have published many papers and the effectiveness of Maitake MD fraction against cancer has been accepted internationally. MD fraction can be used as a supplement or in combination with chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Recently the world famous cancer research centre Sloan-Kettering has been doing phase II trials on Maitake extracts.

Maitake MD fraction is the most effective anti-cancer mushroom extract available today. When compared to other mushroom extracts, MD-fraction is significantly more effective in activating our "attack" immune responses.

My wife originally found out about Maitake MD fraction from e-clinic (a doctor group in Japan). She purchased the extract from one of her doctors who she was recieving hyperthermia treatment from. From this doctor, I was introduced to Professor Nanba (who discovered Maitake MD fraction). I have spoken many times personally with doctor Nanba and I have seen the amazing effects of MD fraction first hand in his laboratory. I stayed for a couple months as a special researcher in his laboratory. It was during this time that I could read all the research results obtained by Dr. Nanba's group. I will summarize the results into a few sentences.

Maitake MD fraction boosts the immune system and results in the slowing or complete reversal of many cancers. When taken in combination with chemotherapy or radiation, significantly increases survival rate and decreases the damage caused by chemo or radiation. Maitake MD fraction decreases the likelyhood of cancer reocurrance and decreases the incidence of metastasis. MD fraction is a safe and natural product, which simply consists of a group of beta-glucans.

Ok. So there it is.

There are a lot of commercial products on the market. In America, I think they call Maitake MD fraction something like "Maitake gold". But when choosing a product you should consider the source (where was it made and do you trust that countries' safety?), the actual amount of MD fraction that is in the daily dose (my wife takes about 400mg of pure MD fraction daily- made in Dr. Nanba's lab in Kobe Pharmaceutical University) - most commercial products have very little MD fraction and may not be high enough concentration to be fully effective. Do your homework and find the product that is right for you. Don't fall for marketing BS!

Something else to consider is price. High doses of MD fraction are expensive because they have to use a lot of maitake mushroom to make it. If the price is too high for your economic situation, you may want to consider taking it for your high-risk time (around surgery times or during chemo or radiation treatment and for a year or so after). Of course it's better to take it for a longer time. But this may not be possible for many people. Ask your doctor if they can get it for you. I'm not sure which countries can prescribe it through their medical system and cover it with insurance. I've heard a rumor that Germany may be using it in hospitals (but not sure actually). If anyone has information about Maitake and medical systems, please add a comment to this blog. Thank you in advance. Let's pool our knowledge!

If you can't get maitake MD fraction, then eat tons of Maitake mushrooms and other types of mushrooms. You will get the whole mushroom and it's greatness. Use it as a staple ingredient in most of your meals. It's delicious and healthy!

I truely believe that Maitake MD fraction is a very good thing to take if you are planning on surviving cancer. But of course there is no silver bullet for cancer. You still need to address and find the true reason why you got cancer (I know, your doctor probably said the reason is unknown or from DNA). That is because the doctor doesn't know about you or your life. There is a real reason in your life, why you got cancer. And only you truly know why. You have to think about it and solve that problem. We will discuss this matter in more detail in future posts, as it is the most important aspect of surviving and curing cancer for good.

Mental aspects of curing cancer

cancer free - how my wife cured stage III lung cancer- Mental health

After speaking to many survivors, we realized that the mental side of curing cancer is the most important. In a poll of Japanese survivors the top reasons that they listed for their survival were mental health and the food that they were eating. The least important reasons for surviving were luck, folowed by their doctor. This is a heavy blow to the doctor centered medical system that we use to treat our medical problems.

So why is mental health so important? Because our mind controls our body and more specifically, our immune system. And with impared immune response, cancer has a greater chance to exist.

Lets look at a few ways to improve our mental health:

1) A great doctor named Carl Simonton developed a system of image training to help people survive cancer. I highly recommend you read his books and get his audio CD's. His classic book "Getting Well Again" takes you step-by-step through the learning process. Learning this one skill of using mental images to activate your natural defences, is a great way to start on becoming mentally healthy. Please read it! Take it out from the library if you don't want to buy it.

2) Scientists from Okayama, Japan showed in a simple study that laughter has an immediate positive effect on immune cell number and activity. People's Natural Killer (NK) and Killer-T cells were measured before and after watching a live comedy show in Osaka's famous Namba ka-getsu comedy theatre. After a single show, NK and Killer-T activity and numbers had increased.

Numerous scientific studies throughout the world have shown a direct relationship between mind and immune response. And many other studies have shown the relationship between immune response and cancer inhibition. Put these together and see that healthy mind = healthy body.

Laughter boosts immune response. Even fake laughing and smiling have a great positive effect. Maybe you are not very happy with your situation right now. But try putting on a big (fake or real) smile and hold it for as long as you can. 20 minutes a day is a good target. Try it. You will most likely feel better after and you can bet that your body is getting activated and working to clean up any irregularities inside. Laugh out loud. Join a laughter club in your city. That will get your mind and body going in the right direction.

And let's get our direction clear. We are 100% focussed on surviving and becoming "weller than well". Cancer is a message from our bodies that we need to improve our lives. And you can come out of this with a better life than you had before you got cancer.

3) Practice appreciation => The simple act of saying and truely feeling "thank you"

Practicing appreciation throught each day can make your life beautiful and help you move towards mental health. It may not feel natural at first but it just takes practice.

You can thank whatever you like ("god" "the earth" "family") or just send a thanks out without a clear target. When you open your eyes in the morning, say "Thank you for another beautiful day". Or before you eat or drink something "Thank you food for giving me power to live" "Thank you farmers for working hard" "Thank you Earth for growing this food". etc. Make up your own simple thank you program. Say it all the time, even silently. And make the true feeling of thanks in your mind and heart. Even if your life is tough and you feel that you have been given little to thank for. Try it and grow your heart and mind.

Many traditional and alternative Japanese survivor trainers recognize appreciation as a true key to surviving cancer and improving your life. Give it a try. Say and think "Thank You" all the time. It feels great!
